Mother Lode
Mother Lode
• When a massive zinnia (measuring over 4" across), starts to fade in late summer, the bounty for the next year is beyond what is needed for one garden. These seeds which begin to show themselves as the petals fade hold tightly to the stem until each petal loosens its grip. The transformation from a ball of intense orange to a seed repository begins at the bottom with petals curling and browning while the top simply tries to hold onto its original splendor.
